How Line Check reads a number
Line Check tidies up the number you typed, looks up the line, and gives you a short answer about texting. It does not call or text the number.
Enter the number
Type a 10-digit US number in any format, or use a plus sign and country code for other countries.
We look up the line
The number is checked against a carrier lookup to find its line type and carrier.
Get a texting answer
You see yes, no or not sure for texts, plus a one-line note on what to do.
Mobile, landline, VoIP or toll-free
Line Check sorts every number into one of these line types, or says unknown when the lookup cannot tell. Mobile numbers take texts. Landlines do not, so the note suggests a call or email.
Carrier and country
When the lookup returns it, you see the carrier name, such as T-Mobile, and the country the number belongs to. Toll-free numbers are recognized from the number itself, with no lookup needed.
VoIP and toll-free notes
Internet (VoIP) numbers usually take texts, but delivery can be slower or filtered, and Line Check says so. Toll-free numbers only get texts if the business has turned texting on for them.
